Don’t you love it when one of your storytime families thanks you for storytime? Well, the next time someone does, ask them to consider spreading the love! Invite them to write a letter to the editor of your local paper in praise of storytime!
Tell them that just a few sentences about why they love storytime and how storytime is building their child’s reading readiness will help spread the word about how the library can help. The more families who know the benefits of reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing with their children, the greater the benefits to the long-term health of their community.
Do you have a great advocacy idea? E-mail it to the chair of our advocacy committee, Melissa Depper: mdepper@ald.lib.co.us

Advocacy for the library
In Broomfield, at the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library, we have a guest book at the Children's Desk. When we a hear a special thank you from a parent we ask them to write their comment in the guest book.
