Beaumont Library Hits the Road in "Ready to Read" Van

The Beaumont Library in California has a new way to help their youngest patrons get ready to read: by bringing the library to them! The library received an LSTA grant to create the program, which includes a van with 2000 items on board. Nancy Wood, Outreach Librarian, stated that "we can deliver books, learning kits, and storytime materials, along with training for their use, in an environment where the message of read early and read often has proven of critical importance to ensure children enter their school years ready to learn to read.” The van even sports Michael Emberley's illustrations from Barbara Bottner's An Annoying Alphabet!
