Getting the Word Out

Getting the Word Out

How do we communicate early literacy information to parents and caregivers in our communities? Often we have opportunities to speak with them directly, during storytimes, at the reference desk or on the floor, at early literacy workshops in the library or at reading and literacy events at schools.

With limited staff and time and resources, we can’t reach every parent and caregiver in person. But we can use printed materials, newsletters, websites, and social networks to help close this gap.

We’ve gathered samples of materials developed by libraries in Colorado and across the states in order to provide information about early literacy to their patrons. If you’re looking for a new idea for your library's outreach efforts, start here!
