Play and "Short, Targeted Activities" Best Way to Teach Early Literacy Skills, Panel Finds

Post by Lisa C.

The National Institute for Literacy recently funded a panel called the National Early Literacy Panel to study what works best to teach early literacy skills.  The panel's results were released on Thursday and an article in the Christian Science Monitor discusses the results.  The panel found that play and “short targeted activities” are the best early literacy learning environments.  Much of what they discuss aligns with what we are doing with storytime and in the library.  So congratulations to us for already being on the ball!
