Training Opportunity: CLiC Spring Workshops in Pueblo

In April, head down to Pueblo for CLiC's spring workshops, including an exciting session taught by CLEL's own Babette Reeves: "Beyond Eensy Weensy Spider: Early Literacy Storytimes and Your Library":

This presentation will cover definitions of early literacy, its importance, and its incorporation into storytimes. Focusing on six early literacy skills and some basic steps for building an early literacy storytime, the presentation will demonstrate how, if a library is already offering storytimes, adding early literacy requires no extra staffing, budget, or materials. There will be time to work hands-on to classify books by skill; to find, create, and use early literacy tips; and to plan a storytime using early literacy elements. Planning forms, evaluation sheets, specific how-to’s, and free online resources for songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and parent/caregiver tips will be shared. Video of early literacy storytimes may also be available.
