Thankfulness and Children

This is the time of year where everyone is finding things for which to be thankful. Whether we have a lot of these things or very few, it is a time when positivity finds its way even into the darkest of corners. Storytime is a great way to inspire thankfulness among the children and the parents who attend!

***Early Literacy Tip***

Even the smallest of successes are still moments to be recognized. Did your little one learn a new letter? Did he make a connection between the rhyming words “mouse” and “house”? Take a moment and recognize these accomplishments! This praise will help your little one continue to make improvements in literacy and learning.

Books like Bear Gives Thanks by Karma Wilson and The Thankful Book by Todd Parr are excellent additions to storytimes with this message.

We often lose sight of the things in our lives for which we are truly thankful. Taking moments to recognize those things for ourselves, and modeling that thankfulness practice for the families in our storytimes, can help to foster and enhance the positive outcomes of these events.

And we at CLEL are thankful for you and your passion for spreading the Early Literacy message!
