Early Literacy Reminder - Singing and New Words
Singing is a great way for kids to build vocabulary and learn more rare words. When we sing a nursery rhyme or song with lots of unfamiliar words in storytime like "Little Miss Muffet," or "Goosey, Goosey Gander," here's an early literacy tip you can share with caregivers: "Singing is a great way to build vocabularly. When we sing old nursery rhymes together, we are hearing less common words like 'gander' or 'curds and whey.' When you and your child sing these songs, you can talk about what all of these words mean!"
