Does your book fit the CLEL Bells Criteria?

Eligible books for the 2027 award must have been published or distributed in the United States between June 2025 and June 2027.

Before submitting a title:

Review the full selection criteria here.
Consider which of the five early literacy practices (Read, Write, Sing, Talk, or Play) fits the title.
Consider how the book supports the six early literacy skills.
In addition, we are looking for books that fall under one or more of the following three guidelines: 1. Originally published in Spanish. 2. Published as a bilingual Spanish and English title. 3. A quality Spanish translation originally published in English or other language.

How to Suggest a Title

When completing the Title Suggestion Form:

Suggest titles for a specific early literacy practice category (Read, Write, Talk, Sing, or Play)
Describe how the book connects to the suggested category
Describe how the book supports the six early literacy skills
Explain how the book could promote adult/child interactions.

Which Suggested Titles have been nominated?

Each suggested title is reviewed by the CLEL Bell Awards Selection Committee and considered for nomination. Nominations for the current award season will be posted between September 2026 and August 2027.
