Become a Member
The first step to becoming more involved with Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy to become a member.
Membership is free and open to everyone interested in early literacy, regardless of your residency or job title. CLEL Members are automatically enrolled in the CLEL Listserv, so you can stay up to date on the latest events and announcements.
Network at a Member Meet-Up
Member Meet-ups provide CLEL members the opportunity to see and meet other members, discuss relevant issues and topics in libraries, build a sense of community, and have a place for members to get to know the Steering Committee. They are a fun, casual, supportive place to learn and network as a group. Look for our next scheduled Meet-Up on the Events Calendar.
Join a Committee
- Steering Committee Elections are held in November of each year. Steering Committee members must be Colorado Residents. Steering Committee members serve on one of six sub-committees for a 2 year term.
- CLEL Bells Book Award Selection Committee Applications open in early Spring. No residency requirement. Award selection committee members serve for one year.
- Ad Hoc Committees Ad Hoc committees are temporary and formed with the intent to complete a set task. For example, in 2021 a Website Advisory Committee was formed to assist with updating the CLEL website. The committee disbanded after 3 months with the completion of the update. Residency requirements and term commitment will depend on the needs of the committee.
Present at the Annual CLEL Conference
The annual CLEL conference is held every Fall. Look for our call for presenters typically in May/June. Announcements are made to the CLEL Listserv, social media accounts, and on the CLELCON page.
Each year we are looking for both new and experience presenters to speak about current early literacy research, best practices, and lessons learned.
