The moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! The 2017 CLEL Bell Awards Committee is now taking title suggestions. To suggest a title, you can go to the CLEL website and fill out the Suggest A Title form. Can’t get enough of the CLEL Bell Picture Book Awards? You are invited to join the conversation on Goodreads. The CLEL Bell Picture Book Awards recognize five picture books related to one of the five early literacy practices: read, write, sing, talk or play. These books provide excellent support of early literacy development in young children and serve as a collection development, program planning, and early literacy information resource for librarians, educators, and caregivers.
Looking for a literacy activity to do with your kids on the go this summer! Why not try this out. Grab a paper plate, marker, and scissors. Write the letters, words, or shapes around the outside of the plate then use the scissors to cut in between each. As you are out running errands, playing at the park, or on vacation have the kids look for the letters, words and shapes and fold down the corresponding section. Quick, easy, and fun.
